Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Portland Police Department to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce crime and the fear of crime, to bring those who commit crime to justice and to work with our citizens to improve their quality of life. We will do this with honor and integrity, always conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards so that we maintain our public's confidence.

Organization
The Portland Police Department consists of 1 Chief of Police, 26 Peace Officers, 1 Sgt/IT Manager, 1 Division Coordinator, 10 Communications Officers, 2 Code Enforcement Officers, 2 Animal Control Officers, 1 Records Clerk, 1 part-time Police Clerk and 10 part-time crossing guards. Three additional peace officers are assigned to the Portland Fire Department
