Kidz Kamp 2010
The City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer our Summer Kidz Kamp program, co-sponsored by Gregory-Portland ISD. The program is offered to children who will be entering kindergarten through 6th grade for the 2009-2010 school year. Activities include games, sports, swimming, science and nature activities, field trips, special events and arts & crafts. The children are grouped by ages and class size is limited. All instructors are certifi ed in CPR/First Aid. Children must provide their own lunch; an afternoon snack is provided. Kamp will not be held on Monday, July 5, 2010. The 2010 Kidz Kamp program will be held at T.M. Clark Elementary. Payment plans are set up as follows: $60.00 registration fee due at the time of enrollment, $75.00 weekly tuition fee (enrolled for the entire program). Tuition is due each Friday prior to the week attended. A $15 late fee will be applied to the account if payment is not received by Tuesday of the week attending. All delinquent fees must be paid before child can return to the program. Children attending individual weeks must make payment before attending each week. A one time $60.00 registration fee is required. For more information, please contact the Portland Park and Recreation Department at 777-3301.

Register: Enrollment is limited! Open registration for the general public begins May 3, 2010. Participants may enroll for the full ten week program or individual weeks pending availability (weekly cost will be $90.00).
Info: Children are grouped by age and grade. Class size is limited. Children must provide their own lunch and drink. The program is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Instructors: Certified in Community First Aid and Safety/CPR. They also have Early Childcare training.
Schlitterbahn Day Trip
The City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring a day trip to Schlitterbahn Water Park in New Braunfels, Texas. Schlitterbahn is one of the premier water parks in the United States with fun rides as well as a relaxing atmosphere. Please send your teen with a sack lunch or money to purchase lunch there. An afternoon snack will be provided. This trip will be monitored by staff members that are trained in CPR/ First Aid as well as lifeguards from the Portland Aquatic Center. Space is limited.
Date: July 14, 2010 (may vary) Time: Depart Community Center at 7:00 AM, return at 9:30 PM Cost: $45.00/child Ages: 13-16
Kayaking on Sunset Lake
The City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department will be offering an Ocean Kayaking class. Participants will learn how to maneuver a kayak as well as safety practices and maintenance of the equipment. This class will help youth to appreciate the different environment Portland has to offer. Class will be held at Sunset Lake. Participants must provide own equipment including kayaks, helmets and life vests.

Football Camp
Join Corpus Christi Hammerheads and All-Arena football player Henry Hall for this three day football camp. Henry is a collegiate three sport letterman and a NASM certified personal trainer. Participants will work on blocking/tackling, passing, catching and agility/footwork. Come out for the fun, learn new skills and get ready for the upcoming season.
Session I: July 20-22 (Rescheduled due to weather) 6:00-8:00 PM Ages 8-13
Session II: July 6-8 6:00-8:00 PM Ages 14 and up
Cost: $60.00, registrations for both camps are ongoing at the Portland Community Center.
Crossfit Kids Camps
CrossFit XLR8 will be holding CrossFit Kids camps for children ages 7-13 this summer. Week long classes are designed to teach our kids how to be healthy, active and to have fun! We learn about proper body mechanics, fundamentals of basic exercises and discuss proper nutrition, in a fun-filled and positive atmosphere. We focus on cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, power, speed, flexibility, agility, accuracy, balance and coordination. Proper form at a young age will improve athletic performance in the years to come, help get your child ahead this summer!
CrossFit Kids Summer Camp Schedule: Held Mon-Fri: 1:30pm-3pm. (If your child will be attending Kidz Kamp, transportation will be provided to and from TM Clark Elementary). T-shirt and daily snack provided. Enrollment must be completed 2 weeks prior to camp and is ongoing at the Portland Community Center.

Ages 7-8: June 14-18 and August 2-6 Ages 9-10: June 21-25 and August 9-13 Ages 11-13: June 28-July 2 and August 16-20
Weekly Cost: $65.00 ($55.00 if parent is a member of CrossFit XLR8)

Kidz Klub After School Program 2010-11 The Kidz Klub After-School Program, offered by the Portland Parks and Recreation Department and Gregory-Portland ISD, is the answer for working parents concerned about their children being home alone. Kidz Klub is a recreation program offered at four school sites located within the City of Portland. Children in kindergarten through 6th grade are eligible for enrollment. Activities include quality recreational activities which enhance a child's leisure skills in safe and familiar surroundings. Fees include an afternoon snack. Extended Kidz Klub hours will be available on early dismissal days. The program wll run from the end of school through 6:00 PM. All Kidz Klub staff are certified in CPR/First Aid. This program is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. When: 2010-11 G.P.I.S.D. Calendar Year (excluding holidays)
Cost: Registration fee: $60 Monthly tuition: $85
Register: Enrollment is limited! Open registration begins Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Portland Community Center. The registration fee must be paid in full at the time of registration. A prorated amount of $30 for August must be paid by the first day of school.

Tippi Toes Dance
Since 1999 Tippi Toes Dance Company have provided ballet, tap, jazz and hip hops classes to children 18 months and older at various locations. The Portland Community Center is proud to offer these class. All classes are held on Tuesday, times are listed below.
Tippi Toes classes will return on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Class schedules are as follows:
Baby Ballet: Tuesdays, 6:00-6:45 PM Recommended Age: 2 and 3 This class is great for children who can follow directions! In this class, we will work on teaching the children about their individual space, the neighbors beside them, and the room around them. While the children will focus on using their imagination, and having fun, we will focus on teaching them the basics of ballet, as well as a short ballet dance. The children have so much fun they dont even realize how much they are learning!
Ballet, Tap, and Jazz: Tuesdays, 5:00-5:45 PM Recommended Age: 4, 5, and 6 years old This class is great for the children who can follow directions and recognize the space around them! In this class, we will work on teaching the children a variety of dances; ballet, tap and jazz. The class will learn a dance in each style as well as terms and positions. As always, in Tippi Toes we can't have the children go home without exercising their incredible imagination along with a little singing!
