Pitch, Hit and Run
Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit and Run provides youngsters across the country an opportunity to particpate in an exciting baseball skill competition. This national initiative gives boys and girls ages 14 and under the chance to showcase thier pitching, hitting and running abilities. Pitch, Hit and Run is inteded to encourage youth participation and emphasize the fun element of baseball. Since there is no regisration fee, everyone has the opportunity to participate.
Pitch, Hit and Run tests three of the most fundamental aspects of baseball - pitching, hitting and running. Pitch: participant is tested throwing strikes to a designated "strike zone" target. Hit: participant hits a ball off a staionary tee for distance and accuracy. Run: Participant is timed, starting from second base, touching third, then home.

Krav Maga Sidekicks
Krav Maga Sidekicks classes are now available at teh Portland Community Center for ages 3 and up. Certified, professional staff from the Krav Maga Sidekicks instruct all classes. Goals include increased fitness, discipline, self control, respect, aself defense, fighting, and black belt training. Classes will be held up to three times a week. Little Dragons (ages 3-6) Class Objectives: American Karate, listening skills, self control, descipline, safety awareness, coordination, respect Class Times: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 5:00-5:30 PM Tuition: $69.00/month
Krav Maga Sidekicks (ages 7-12) Class Objectives: self defense, fitness, self control, discipline, black belt training, respect Class Times: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 5:30-6:15 PM Tuition: $79.00/month
Krav Maga Sidekicks (ages 13 and up) Class Objectives: fitness, self defense, fighting, Krav Maga, Modern Arnis, American Karate, and leadership. Class Times: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 6:15-7:15 PM Tuition: $89.00/month
Ultimate Body Shaping (ages 3-6) Class Objectives: Cardio Kickboxing, core exercises, PNF stretching, resistance bands, focus mitt/pad work. Class Times: Tuesday/Thursday, 8:15-9:00 PM Tuition: $40.00/month
Kits must be purchased on the first day of class.
Tippi Toes Dance
Since 1999 Tippi Toes Dance Company have provided ballet, tap, jazz and hip hops classes to children 18 months and older at various locations. The Portland Community Center is proud to offer these class. All classes are held on Monday, times are listed below.
Mommy/Daddy and Me: 5:00-5:45 PM Baby Ballet: 5:45-6:30 PM Hip Hop: 6:45-7:30 PM
Mommy/Daddy and Me - Perfect for the leg hugger! We invite parents to join this class and dance with us! We will be enjoying many songs, and dances from many children artist while working on motor skills. Having mom close by will ease the tension of being alone in dance class. Feel free to come in comfortable clothes, as we too will be using our imagination, dancing around the room, crawling on the floor! It is so fun and a great way to meet other moms. Plus, you will find yourself singing these adorable songs all week long! Suggested age is 18 months - 3 years
Baby Ballet - This class is great for the children whom can follow directions! In this class, we will work on teaching the children about their individual space, the neighbors beside them, and the room around them. They will work on a short ballet dance (boys and girls), teaching the basics of ballet. We will be using easy terms to help them learn more about dance. We will also have them use their imagination, sing and work on motor skills. Suggested age is 4-6
Hip Hop ? This class is open to children who would like to learn this new style of dancing. Hip Hop is an urban inspired fast paced dance style, popular with pre-teens and teens. Suggested age is 7-13
